About us

We are a specialist consulting company with a blend of bright experts.
REID Consulting

Its founder

Reid Consulting founder

REID Consulting is the eponymous brainchild of its founder Alasdair Reid, a Scottish-born economist, researcher and experienced advisor whose achievements in regional innovation systems, smart specialisation and sustainable strategies are recognised across Europe.

Alasdair started the business in 2002 because he believed in the power of research and innovation to transform society, but he noticed gaps in the policies and strategies needed to achieve this.

That opening was filled by REID Consulting, which has forged a reputation as a leading European player in innovation systems, policy and management.

We  bring to innovation policy solid data and real foresight needed to develop intelligent systems with concrete steps.
That way, we can get us from where we are to where we need to be, efficiently and affordably.

(Alasdair Reid, Managing Director/Founder REID Consulting, Policy Director EFIS)

Our approach

OUR PROCESS
We stay open photo
We stay open

At REID, we use the latest analytical methods, data-crunching and visualisation tools, but not for the sake of it. We’re not slaves to ‘consulting speak’ and technology, and our outlook is always one of openness.
That means no ‘us and them’, no silo thinking, and no technical lock-ins.

Our recommendations, reports, evaluations… all of our solutions to the problems our clients face are built around the principles of open collaboration, open innovation and open source, wherever possible.

Our approach isn’t always conventional

We sometimes have to turn things over to see how a policy or issue affects society, the economy and public discourse from other angles. But that inner-curiosity ultimately benefits clients, offering a refreshingly clear picture of what is at stake in every project.

This spirit of partnership, combined with mutual respect for and recognition of different contributions and skills, is key to the consistent, timely, professional and actionable results.
